About Me

My photo
I love red velvet cake, glitter, music, car washes, and nail polish. I am a southern belle with a hint of cajun class. Starting this blog was a challenge to do something I WANTED to do not because I HAD to.

breath taking view

There's something about the clouds that amaze me!  They look like fluffy white cotton candy that you can jump up and down on!  Now that it is finally spring and the weather is gorgeous I actually keep my window open on the airplane.  I want to reach out and touch them...too bad I can't.  Aren't these pictures breath taking?  That is exactly how I feel every time I look out. Wow...so beautiful!

Philly-city of brotherly LOVE

I had never been to Philly before!  It was great.  The President took me on a tour of the city.  Our tour guide certainly was an interesting character...although he was really informative.  Definitely learned plenty of new things that day!  Philadelphia has so many "firsts" it is really awesome to think about the history that it holds.  I am so glad I had the opportunity to visit there.  I tried my first philly cheesesteak! :) The visit was amazing...it really made me appreciate the blessing of this job.  I stopped to think about how far America has come since Ben Franklin and William Penn walked those Philly streets!  Wow!  It is pretty awesome to think about.

We had lunch in this market!  It was so cool.  Jam packed.  We had crepes :)
They filmed some of national treasure here

Ben Franklin's grave-"he" makes on average $4,000 a year-the money goes to maintenance of the cemetery.

Indy

My trip to Indy was oh so fantastic!  IUPUI's campus is downtown so it was nice to see the city life.  I think I experience 3 seasons while I was there Spring-Fall-Winter!  The weather was crazy, but I loved getting to explore some of the city.  I even had the opportunity to meet a Zeta Tau Alpha consultant.  We had a nice girls day out in Indy-food and shopping!  What sorority girl doesn't love that? It was so relaxing to sit and chat with another consultant who knows your struggles and small victories!
yay for Panhellenic bonding time!

Lucas Oil Stadium where the Super Bowl was played this past year.

I sent this to my parents and said, "dinner"...ha! Mom - Dad really? Y'all are crazy if you believed a chapter would spend $50 plus on a meal for me.  I WISH that would have been dinner, but nope.  Saving that one for the next family vaycay!! hear that dad!?

In honor of Founder's Day the Ritual Chairman found some old Aglaia (Phi Mu's magazine) issues...I found the Kappa Iota articles in the back.  So cool!

Emily (left) is the Panhellenic delegate and Grace (right) is the Phi Director...these two were surely great to meet during my visit.  They are inspiration leaders in their chapter.

Looking forward to seeing Emily in San Antonio this summer for convention!

I was able to experience Big Sister Reveal! This poor pinata! It had it coming!
Inside the pinata were pictures of each big sister that had to be put together for the little to finally know who her one and only big sister would be!

These girls were hilarious while attempting to bust this pinata!

here we gooooo!

the after math...not too bad!

I'll take a wack at it :)

Little sisters scrambling to put their picture puzzle together!
In honor of Founder's Day some fraternity men brought the chapter flowers! This was such a sweet gesture and of course I am all in favor of hand written notes.

This was my first year to experience Founder's Day away from Kappa Iota.  It was great to be with the Rho Alpha girls on this fabulous day in history!  160 years of vibrant sisterhood!
I am front and center in the picture.

I found this Theatre while visiting.  I could not resist a picture of a gorgeous theatre.

One night the chapter took me to the Colts Grille!  It was SO yummy.  I could not help but think ha! Saints beat the Colts in the Super bowl in 2010....sorry Meg (if you are reading this)

What a great trip to Indy.  I had a great time getting to know the chapter, celebrate Founder's Day, experience a fiesta for Big Sister reveal, and tour a little bit.
So blessed.
Until next time...

holla for a dolla!

Hello Rome!  The first night I was in Rome, GA we ventured out on to Broad St and had a great evening at Jefferson's.  This place was covered in $1 bills...so of course I had to decorate one myself and add it to the collection!

Here is the before and after

What a fun place!

and there is my little dollar bill that is now hanging on the wall....so glad I made my mark!
oh did you catch that George Washington had a mustache? :)

One morning I was curious to see what all the fuss was about with this new little bakery called Honeymoon Bakery.  Look at what I found there.
Oh I just about died laughing at register when I saw it.

It is an armadillo cake just like in Steel Magnolias
I immediately think of good ole Natty and my KI sisters!

Oh and this was breakfast...breakfast of champions right?
so yummy.  good thing I don't always eat this for breakfast

Something special to Rome is the Chick-fil-a Dwarf House.  This just means that there is a dine-in seating section and you get served your food by a wait staff AND they have this fun entrance!

The visit to Rome was great! Wish it could have been Rome, Italy-but I'll cherish the experience.  The Nu chapter was very welcoming and fun!  It was exciting to be back in the south and visit with some southern belles for a while.

Until next time...

160 years of Sisterhood!

March 4, 1852 three young women changed the world!
Mary Dupont Lines
Mary Myrick Daniel
Martha Hardaway Redding

Today Phi Mu celebrates 160 years of vibrant sisterhood.  I decided to share some pictures of my very first day of sisterhood with Phi Mu.  August 2007-Bid Day at Northwestern State University-Kappa Iota Chapter...enjoy the pics!  I cannot believe it has almost been 5 years since my own bid day.
I was so proud to take this picture!

DeShae and I on Bid Day.
Fall 2007 pledge class! We were so excited!

So many women across the United States have been blessed to be among this organization.  This past year traveling as a consultant has been an amazing experience. When we visited Martha's grave in Macon, GA someone said, "Wow without that woman we would not have jobs right now"...crazy to think about it that way, but very true!

So proud of the legacy every Phi Mu leaves as we strive to live vibrant lives.

LOVE-HONOR-TRUTH

Happy Founder's Day Phi Mu!
